A new commercial facility, “Gifu Castle Rakuichi,” located in Gifu Park (Omiya-cho, Gifu City), is set to open on April 26, 2025. Ahead of the grand opening, Nagoya Railroad (Meitetsu) hosted a preview event on April 24 for media representatives and stakeholders. The facility will feature 11 stores, including several new business concepts debuting in Gifu.
The project is part of the “Gifu Park Public-Private Partnership Revitalization Project (Park-PFI),” a collaboration between Meitetsu and Gifu City established through a basic agreement signed in March 2024. The facility consists of seven single-story wooden buildings with a total store area of approximately 760 square meters.
Among the highlights is a Japanese restaurant, “Shikisai Udon Hanakinton,” operated by Meitetsu Miraito, a subsidiary of Nagoya Railroad. The restaurant specializes in handmade udon noodles produced in-house and features a unique interior design adorned with lanterns crafted by a renowned local manufacturer of Gifu lanterns. Another notable addition is “Gifu Olympia-an,” a store by Olympia, a Nagoya-based company known for its nationwide chain of general merchandise stores. This marks Olympia’s first store in Gifu Prefecture, offering local souvenirs and specialty items.
According to Kota Ito, a representative from Meitetsu’s Regional Revitalization Promotion Headquarters, the facility aims to provide a space where local residents can rediscover the charm of their community while offering domestic and international tourists a taste of Gifu’s unique hospitality. “We hope this will be a place where people can fully enjoy the essence of Gifu,” Ito stated.
